Meditation
Meditation is a much needed survival tool in this stressed filled and hectic world we live in. Anxiety, worry, tension, pressure, competition, high standards to live up to and the unrealistic goals we put upon ourselves, unhealthy lifestyles, all take their toll on the mind and the body. This can result in burnout, high blood pressure, chronic pain, insomnia, migraines, illnesses, and depression, a loss of purpose, self esteem or even self identity, confusion and a lack of clear thinking, this is just to name a few.
Meditation practised on a regular basis calms the mind, relaxes the body and soothes the nervous system, lowering the blood pressure and the heart rate, as well as reducing the stress hormones and slowing down the metabolism. Life and all its related stresses become more manageable, moods are enhanced and emotions more evenly balanced, a person can achieve focus and clear thinking again, the body is better able to repair itself and a person’s outlook takes on a more positive approach.
